Moorgate & London Wall
Redevelopment of prominent art deco Halifax House, and two adjacent buildings, to provide excellent new office and retail space in the City of London.
Existing high quality stone façades will be retained and reconstructed to enable each building to retain its individual identity, within Bank Conservation Area, whilst providing new continuous floor plates and ceiling heights required for modern high quality offices.
As part of the redevelopment of 41-42 London Wall, it was necessary to replace the existing facade to 41-42 London Wall with a new façade. PDP London first carefully examined the existing facade, identifying the key modulation elements of the facade and then reinterpreted these elements in a more contemporary manner using better quality materials. Through this process the memory of the old is retained but the new facade meets the contemporary aesthetic and technical requirements for the development going forward.
Existing ground floor windows are to be enlarged to form attractive shopfronts, increasing value and providing interest at street level.
