Chelsea Barracks restaurant and mews house wins Contractor's Choice at Brick Awards

Phase 3a of the Chelsea Barracks development (which includes a restaurant, delicatessen and exclusive mews house) was awarded Contractor’s Choice as well as being highly commended in the ‘Craftsmanship’ category at this year’s Brick Awards.

The design and detailing of this project required a truly collaborative approach and we’re delighted to see recognition of the incredible craftsmanship in this development.

The brickwork is also a ‘tour de force’ of technical performance and design precision, a testimony that traditional masonry skills are very much still alive.”

The concept for the restaurant design was created by Ben Pentreath, with William Smalley leading on the design of the exquisite mews house, which is tucked behind the restaurant.

We developed and delivered the design (overseeing the project from Stage 3 to completion) with Arup as structural engineers, main contractor, Mace, and specialist brickwork sub-contractor, Lesterose.

The judges said of the project “A fantastic example of clay brick work and traditional bricklaying skill a real joy to see. A great example of craftsmanship achieved using clay brick.”
