Our Carbon Reduction Plan

As part of our ongoing journey towards environmental stewardship and responsible practice, we are sharing our Carbon Reduction Plan. The plan details our short and long-term actions (aligned with science-based targets), underscoring our commitment to reducing our carbon emissions.

We are in a climate emergency, and urgently need to reduce carbon emissions. The construction process and servicing of buildings is responsible for 49% of the UK total carbon emissions currently thought responsible for global warming. While architects cannot solve the current climate change issue on their own, they can play a significant role in producing high quality sustainable and responsible designs.

We believe that change begins from within, so our Carbon Reduction Plan is centered on our own workspaces and operational practices. We have been recording data on our energy, transport, waste and water usage since 2015. Our first third-party carbon appraisal took place in 2020 but the pandemic obviously had an impact on our numbers. We have therefore used our 2022-23 carbon appraisal (conducted by Carbon Footprint Ltd.) as the new baseline for our science-aligned targets.

The plan below sets out our baseline and our approach to achieving our goals.
