  • Beti Jai competition in Madrid

    PDP London placed 5th out of 74 international entries

    In June, the City of Madrid announced an international contest for a £9.6 million overhaul of the abandoned Beti Jai pelota arena in the city. The aim of the competition was to select a team to restore and re-imagine the disused venue, known locally as a fronton, which hasn't hosted a match for almost a century.

    We are delighted that two of our Hong Kong Studio's projects, Whitesands and MassMutual Tower, are finalists in the MIPIM Asia Awards 2017. The awards ceremony will take place on 29 November, where the prizes (gold, silver or bronze) will be announced. We are keeping our fingers crossed!

    PDP London’s Hong Kong Studio was responsible for the architectural and interior design concept and delivery of the 29-storey Resiglow tower for client Kerry Properties.

    Situated in Happy Valley, Hong Kong, Resiglow is a chic, urban loft-inspired apartment building. The brief was to deliver a clean, uncluttered design language, in a stylish palette of black and white with tactile, textural finishes.

  • Prince of Wales Yard scheme completes

    ​Located in the southwestern corner of the Royal Hospital Chelsea grounds, the practice's scheme for Prince of Wales Yard has recently completed. This mixed-use project includes refurbishment and fit-out of three existing buildings to provide new offices for the Royal Hospital administration, workshops and welfare facilities for Hospital maintenance staff, and hobby rooms for the In-Pensioners.

    Ningbo is described as a second tier city which means it doesn't quite have the status of Shanghai about two hours drive to the north east, but with a population of almost eight million for the municipality and a history dating back to 4800BC it is by standards any other than in China a very large and busy city.

    As with all Chinese cities an enormous amount of development is the norm. Driving in from the airport it is easy to see the layers and stages where this has taken place. There are areas built in the 70s and 80s which already are showing their age and look ready to be replaced.
